The first acts to headline an evening at this summer's Henley Festival held at Henley On Thames have been announced.
Henley Festival is celebrating it's 33rd anniversary this year with five nights of music, cabaret, street theatre, art, culture, comedy, and fine dining and fireworks from Wednesday 8th until Sunday 12th July 2015.
On Thursday Lionel Richie headlines the Floating Stage on Thursday, the 'Hello', 'All Night Long' and 'Dancing On The Ceiling' singer said, "I'm looking forward to playing at Henley Festival as I don't think I¹ve ever played on a Floating Stage on the River Thames before! There's been some great acts perform over the years at Henley so I'm very excited for it to be my turn."
The Philharmonia Orchestra will present a Gershwin Spectacular on Friday. Conducted by Troy Miller and Fabio D'Andrea, with performances from Gregory Porter, trumpet soloist Alison Balsom and Chinese pianist Ji Liu.
The other headliners and the rest of the line-up has not yet been anonunced.
There will also be special guest DJ in the Indigo each night, plus street performers from Henley Festival's Roving Troup of Entertainers, a comedy line-up, showcases of art and sculpture in pop up galleries on the lawns and along the banks of the Thames. Plus a concluding firework spectacular closes each night.
There are just 6,000 tickets available each night, for the black tie event held on the banks of the River Thames.
Tickets are priced from £35, and go onsale from 9am on Monday 26th January, and eFestivals will have links to buy them then. All proceeds will be going to The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts.
Henley Festival's new CEO, Charlotte Geeves said. "We have an incredible line-up for this years festival and I am thrilled we are able to announce pop and soul icon Lionel Richie will be joining us at what will be the best festival we've had yet!"
