Festival organiser and farmer Michael Eavis has announced that Ray Davies will be performing in the ancient Glastonbury Abbey's grounds for this year's 19th annual Glastonbury Extravaganza which will take place on Saturday, 8th August and will end with the traditional firework display.

Ray Davies was the lead vocalist and songwriter for The Kinks and last headlined the Extravaganza in 2007.

Farmer and the event's organiser Michael Eavis said, "Ray's a legend and I’m so delighted that he wants to come back again &- I'm his No.1 fan of all time. The Kinks have played the Glastonbury Festival several times and it's so good that everybody knows all the songs. This will be yet another Abbey night to remember."

Janet Bell, Abbey director, added: “We're delighted that, thanks to Michael, the Extravaganza is returning to the Abbey in 2015. The Extravaganza is a wonderful local event and is a highlight of the summer for many people. “

Previous stars to appear at the Abbey include Bryan Ferry and The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, Status Quo, Madness, Van Morrison and Jools Holland and in 2014 Sensational Space Shifters ft Robert Plant delighted the thousands who attended.
