Lionel Richie will headline the night at the 15th annual Eden Sessions held in the surroundings of the Eden Project in Cornwall on Tuesday 14th June 2016.
Lionel, who appears as part of his All The Hits world tour, said, "I had such a great time in the UK this year and I can’t wait to visit new places and meet new people. Performing at Glastonbury for the first time was such a thrill for me and given me an appetite to do new things in the UK. I know these shows are going to be very special."
Eden's marketing director Rita Broe said of the Hello, Dancing on the Ceiling and All Night Long singer, "What a massive honour it is to announce that the legend Lionel Richie will headline at the Eden Sessions next summer! His 30 years of hits have been like a soundtrack to many of our lives. Hearing him perform those hits for the first time in Cornwall, against the backdrop of biomes, will be incredible – and what a way to start the Sessions season! Much dancing on the celling ahead!."
Lionel is the first act to be announced. This will be Lionel’s first ever headline show in the South West and his first UK show since his performance at Glastonbury Festival.
Tickets for Lionel Richie at the Eden Sessions will be priced at £65 plus booking fee and go on general sale at 4pm on Tuesday 8th December, and eFestivals will have links to buy them then. Sessions Plus Packages will also be available.
Eden's Inside Track club passes cost £15 and give holders the option to buy two tickets for each Eden Session seven days before they go on general sale.
Members of the Eden Sessions Inside Track club can buy tickets from 4pm today.
A Sessions ticket entitles the ticket holder to visit the Eden Project either on the day of the concert or the day after. All proceeds from the events will go to the Eden Trust. The full dates of Sessions have not yet been announced.
The Sessions are famed not only for bringing top acts to Cornwall but also for their festival feel, with extra bands and entertainers playing around the site in the run-up to the main event. The event will have three stages featuring some of the best up-and-coming acts playing from early afternoon on each day as well as the headliners.
There is no camping allowed on site, and animals are not permitted.
