This year's Glastonbury Festival is seeking poets, lyricists, spoken word artists, troubadours, story tellers, stand-up poets and slam champs.

The Poetry&Words area of the Festival are looking for talented poetry types who could get an opportunity to perform their work on Glastonbury Festival's poetry stage.

The Festival is looking for applications from experienced writers and performers who can leave the Glastonbury audience speechless (in a good way!). So, if YOU want to perform your work on Glastonbury Festival’s poetry stage, then this is your chance! Applicants should have something quite excellent to offer the audience of the world’s biggest greenfield arts festival.

Those who think they would fit the bill are asked to please e-mail poetryandwords@hotmail.co.uk with their poetry CV and 1-3 video and/or audio files of them performing their work preferably to a live audience. Organisers are happy to receive either attachments (of a manageable size!) or web links. They can even provide a snail mail address for those old school applying poets.

They will only view one application per person. Further applications will be ignored, so send them your best stuff first time around! Don’t send Word files of your poems or links to your books. However good they are, it’s the performance element they need to be able to judge.

Applications will close at 5pm on Friday 4th March 2016, and applications received (by post or e-mail) after this date will not be accepted.

Each year Poetry& Words receive a high volume of applications and are therefore unable to reply to individual e-mails. Successful acts should hear back from them within two months of the deadline.

Glastonbury Festival will take place on 2,000 acres around a farm in Pilton, Somerset over five full days from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th June 2016. As ever, entry includes a free programme. Once again, the Festival will be raising more than £2 million in funds for Oxfam, Wateraid, Greenpeace and a host of local charities and causes.

Tickets for Glastonbury Festival have sold out. There will be a re-sale, which is likely to be in April or May 2016. In order to buy a ticket Festival goers over the age of 12 must be registered, with online registration only taking a few minutes, this needs to be completed before trying to buy a ticket. Children aged 12 and under do not require tickets and do not need to register.

Registration does not mean you have bought a ticket, but you can't buy a ticket without a registration number.

There are no acts confirmed yet for 2016. Expect something like 2,000 performances at over 100 venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information, site art, decor, and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!

As usual eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2016 rumours, updated as we receive information.

Help us to help you - if you hear of a band that's playing, please let us know.
