Glastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis has revealed in an interview with Noisey (published here) that the John Peel Stage is being moved from it's current location to further up the slope into the field that is currently Hospitality Camping.

Originally the New Bands Tent it arrived in 1998 and was renamed in memory of one of the big supporters of the Fesitval in 2005. The John Peel Stage hosts an eclectic mix of new and legendary acts as you'd expect from a stage named after the legendary DJ.

When asked about plans for this year Emily replies, "We’re moving John Peel, which is quite a dramatic move. It’s going to go into a field that was previously hospitality camping. Next to that there’s a woods where we’re going to be doing a light installation. I think the centre of gravity [on site] will change again, because every time a massive stage moves it shifts the dynamic. From John Peel you’ll be able to walk straight to the Pyramid stage."

The area in question is Long Ground (the site of the old outdoor cinema) and will mean that Hospitality camping will also be relocating. The light installation will presumably be near the nature reserve in Spring Ground and may be something created to give that area better protection at night.

She's also asked about the line-up and doesn't give much away. Revealing, "Musically we’re still keeping it as open as possible. We’ve got a great bill coming together. In fact, we’re quite far down the line with that. Hopefully we’ll be able to give you some names soon... There are loads of great female MCs coming through this year which is quite exciting. Little Simz and Lady Leshurr and people like that. There’s a feeling in the Silver Hayes that a lot of exciting stuff will be happening over there. This is the crunch point with all our bookings."

For those still hoping to get tickets, there is good news. Emily also confirms there will be a re-sale in Spring, but the number of tickets will, as expected be limited. She adds, "There will be a re-sale but unfortunately, as ever, it’s not going to be massive. It’ll probably be a few low thousand – a couple thousand, something like that. That will be in April. We’re really hoping we’ll get some line-up out there before then but we’ll have to just see. There are lots of reasons why it’s tied up – contracts and that."

There are no acts confirmed yet for 2016. Expect something like 2,000 performances at over 100 venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information, site art, decor, and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!
