Download renames the main stage The Lemmy Stage in tribute, and adds 36 more acts

This year, Download Festival's Main Stage will be named ‘The Lemmy Stage’ in tribute to the Motörhead frontman. Organisers announced the news alongside the addition of 236 new names for the bill.

A statement said, " Whilst we're saddened to say Motörhead will no longer be performing at this year's Download Festival, we will honour a true rock ‘n’ roll icon who inspired so many others on the bill, Lemmy Kilmister. This year, Download Festival’s Main Stage will be named 'The Lemmy Stage' in tribute to a much loved and missed legend. We are working with Motörhead's management on a tribute to the great man during the slot he would have performed on, more information to follow."

In addition Alien Ant Farm, Amon Amarth, Anti-flag, As Lions, Ashestoangels, Black Peaks, Bury Tomorrow, Cane Hill, Danko Jones, Electric Wizard, Escape The Fate, Good Tiger, Grand Magus, Graveyard, Heck, Hill Valley High, Jane's Addiction, Kadavar, Monster Truck, Muncie Girls, Municipal Waste, NoFX, One Ok Rock, Pallisades, Periphery, Reigning Days, Shvpes, Sixx:A.M., Slaves, Strange Bones, The King Is Blind, The Kenneths, Turbowolf, Wage War, Whiskey Myers, and Zoax have joined the line-up for the 14th Download Festival happening at Donington Park over the weekend of Friday 10th to Sunday 12th June 2016.

In total around 150 acts appear over five stages over the three days of the festival.

Topping the bill on the opening night is Rammstein, Saturday headliner is Black Sabbath, and Sunday's headliner is Iron Maiden. Also announced are Korn, Deftones, Megadeth, Nightwish, Disturbed, Shinedown, Killswitch Engage, Down, Don Broco, Architects, Neck Deep, Tremonti, Gojira, Ghost, Billy Talent, Saxon, The Amity Affliction, Halestorm, Beartooth, Twin Atlantic, Atreyu, Attila, Skindred, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, TesseracT, Counting Days, Ho99o9, Milk Teeth, Dead!, Black Foxxes, Fort Hope, Rival Sons, Breaking Benjamin, Havok, Delain, Skillet, and the silent film accompanied by a rock band - Gutterdammerung. There are many more acts to be announced.
