Adele revealed tonight live on stage that she is the final headlining act for this summer's Glastonbury Festival, topping the bill on Saturday night.

The 27-year-old singer has appeared at Glastonbury Festival before, back in 2007 she performed on the Park Stage on Sunday. The singer has been a regular in the crowds at the Festival the last few years and said that she is 'shitting herself' about making such a big performance, we're pretty sure she'll be up to the task, and so is organiser Emily Eavis, who told eFestivals last year that she believed Adele was more than capable of headlining.

Last week during an International Women's Day talk, Emily, re-iterated her belief in the 'Hello' singer, stating, "She would be good wouldn't she? It would be great to get her, She's an incredible artist and brilliantly honest and funny and real and that's what everybody loves about her.

"She's a great example because she doesn't put up any pretence. There's a certain pressure on women to perform in a certain way or be giving off this kind of image, while Adele is just honest and true and funny and just about as popular as you can get."

This year's full line-up is yet to be announced. The first acts confirmed are Friday headliners Muse, Sunday headliners Coldplay, and Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra filling the 'legends' slot on the same day.

Ticket holders for this summer's Glastonbury Festival are reminded to take part in their future by making sure they apply for an EU Referendum postal or proxy vote. You will find links to the form to postal vote here and proxy voting here. For more information (see the news page here).

Tickets for this year have sold out. For those still hoping to get tickets, there is good news. There will be a re-sale in Spring, but the number of tickets will, as expected be limited.

Car park passes priced at £35 will be available when paying the ticket balance in April. It is not possible to book Car Park tickets until the balance for at least one of the tickets on the booking has been paid.

The dates for the 2016 Festival will be from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June. Expect something like 2,000 performances at over 100 venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information, site art, decor, and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out! Headliners Coldplay, plus P J Harvey, and Jeff Lynne's ELO are the only acts confirmed so far. As usual eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2016 rumours, updated as we receive information.
