Bristol's Massive Attack have announced a homecoming show at Bristol's Clifton Downs on Saturday 3rd September 2016. It will be the first time The Downs has been used for a major music event for over 15 years.
The line up so far includes Massive Attack, Primal Scream, and Skepta, with more acts to be announced.
Massive Attack's last big hometown show was at Queen Square in August 2003. Last year the band were due to play at Dismaland in Weston-super-Mare but pulled out due to technical difficulties.
Massive Attack band member 3D said, "We are curating what we hope will become an annual event something made in Bristol with a international reach . We will also use the project to engage with the important social and political issues of the day."
Tickets, will be priced at £37.50, and will go on sale at 8am on Friday, 20th May 20 from Idle Hands and Bristol Ticket Shop to personal callers only. At 9am tickets will go on sale online, and eFestivals will have links her to buy them then.
There will be a limited number of reduced price tickets at £25 available to anyone unemployed or on income support. Tickets are restricted to six tickets per person/per billing address.
Children under 5 are free ( though must be wearing adequate hearing protection) and a limited number of tickets for children aged 5- 12 years will be available at all outlets for £10 + B.F per ticket. All under 16’s need accompanying by an adult.
The show has been curated in partnership with Team Love (promoters of Love Saves The Day) and CrosstownConcerts. Tom Paine, Co-founder of Team Love explained, "We’ve been talking with the band now for many years now about trying to put a show of this scale on together – and it finally feels like the moment is right."
