Last night saw revellers take stock of the five days of Glastonbury Festival that stretch out in front of them with a lot of people on site to see at first hand how the site is bearing up after days of rainfall in the run up to the gates opening. The Festival anounced it was open with a large fire work display once night fell last night, which was a dry one giving the site more time to recover.
Some of the smaller venues had music on and the site was busy with people looking around. There were fireworks near the stone circle, and a warm evening. This year the West Holts stage has big screens, the Main Stage has a Bowie tribute with a lightning bolt flash with an eye, and wings adorning it. Organisers say that there's now the same number of ticket holders on site as there was at this point last year.
Today there's a few more venues open and the whole site to explore. Shangri-La and the naughty corner spring to life today, as do The Glade, Common, Williams Green, The Rabbit Hole, and Silver Hayes with Green Futures and Babylon Bandstand offering more entertainment. Theatre & Circus also opens today.
Yesterday's Jo Cox memorial in The Park has been re-scheduled to 4pm today.
Don't forget there are 132 water taps on site to refill your Glastonbury water bottle and keep you hydrated, and the Festival's metal cups available at The Park. It's also worth heading up to the Greenfields and signing a petition or two and find an important cause or two to find out more information about.
