Atomic Kitten have been announced as the new headliner for Liverpool Pride, the Liverpool festival celebrating all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer life. The pop trio replace Marc Almond - frontman for Soft Cell - after he dropped out due to commitments for TV and radio performances marking the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK. The Marc Almond Exhibition, containing images and ephemera celebrating his career, including his own work, will still run at The Gallery on Stanhope Street for 2 weeks either side of the festival, from 15th July to 13th August.

The original line-up of Atomic Kitten - Natasha Hamilton, Kerry Katona and Liz McClarnon - will perform the headline slot on the Barclays Main Stage on Saturday 29th July. They had this to say on the opportunity:

“We are so excited to be playing Liverpool Pride 2017. Liverpool is where it all began for us. The city is so close to our hearts and, no matter where we go, it will always be home. Liverpool crowds really are the best, the atmosphere is always amazing – and we really cannot wait to be part of such a fantastic festival.”

Liverpool Pride will take place across two days, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July, taking over St George's Cultural Quarter of the city, including St George’s Hall, The Plateau, William Brown Street and St John’s Gardens. The festival is in its eighth consecutive year and will have a theme of "International Love", alongside the city's 50 Summer of Love festival, celebrating 50 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality.
