New Order, & Hot Chip are joining Kraftwerk as headliners for bluedot 2019

Following the announcement of Kraftwerk to headline the Saturday a while back, the remaining headliners have been revealed for the fourth edition of music, science and culture event bluedot, which takes place at Jodrell Bank Observatory, in Cheshire from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st July 2019.

On the Thursday evening there's the Halle Orchestra presents Lift Off, a performance of specially selected sci-fi themes and music related to the Moon accompanied by unique big screen visuals, while on Friday it's Hot Chip, and closing the festival on Sunday are New Order.

Other acts are electronic pioneer Jon Hopkins, poet, playwright and rapper Kate Tempest, 808 State, alt-electro storyteller John Grant, Gogo Penguin, Gruff Rhys, art-rocker Anna Calvi, all-female West African supergroup Les Amazones D'Afrique featuring Mariam Doumbia of Amadou and Mariam and Angelique Kidjo, The Go! Team, Ibibio Sound Machine, Omar Souleyman, producer Jennifer Lee aka Tokimonsta (AV set), Kelly Lee Owens, Elder Island, Du Blonde, She Drew The Gun, K A R Y Y N, Gabe Gurnsey (live), DJ Food 'O Is For Orange', Henge, TVAM, Mark Radcliffe's Une, and Meteor Musik.

There's also actor and activist Maxine Peake (DJ set)La Discoteque, David Attenborough's Jungle Boogie featuring visuals and audio samples from the beloved biologist, DJ Paulette, Katbrownsugar, and John Leather's Tarantino Disco cutting-up classic soundtracks from the legendary director’s movies.

The science and culture programme this year will be centred around the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Key speakers include leading science, wildlife and natural history broadcaster Liz Bonnin, Professor of Disability Research Tom Shakespeare and women’s rights activist Dr Helen Pankhurst, as well as bluedot favourites physicist Professor Jim Al-Khalili, spaceflight expert Dr Libby Jackson, TV presenter Dallas Campbell and the return of The Clangers celebrating their 50th anniversary.
