Midway through their TRNSMT performance on Sunday, frontman Matty Healy announced the band would be playing Reading & Leeds Festival this year: "So, on Saturday at Reading and Sunday at Leeds in celebration of 10 years of our debut album, The 1975 will be playing that album in full in support of our good friend Lewis Capaldi. If you’ve got tickets, good for you. If you haven’t, go and get them. We’ll see you there."
Matty says The 1975 will be covering Lewis Capaldi’s slot for @OfficialRandL to mark 10 years of Self Titled #The1975 #The1975ontour

The performance will mark the 10-year anniversary of the release of the band's debut, self-titled album, The 1975. In celebration, they will be performing the album in full for their Reading & Leeds shows. They will be joining an impressive line-up at this year's festival, with Billie Eilish, Sam Fender, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Foals, and many many more great acts taking the stage from the 25-27th of August. If you'd like to take Matty's advice and grab some tickets, you can do so here:
Lewis Capaldi pulled out of all live shows after his heart-felt Glastonbury performance this year, citing the need to take a break and focus on his mental health. This meant that his Reading & Leeds Festival slots became vacant with rumours swirling about his replacements ever since. Matty Healy's announcement has not yet been corroborated by the festival organisers, but it seems pretty safe to assume that will happen shortly. Perhaps the impromptu announcement was unplanned and caught them off-guard.
