BASS (British Art and Street Sounds) Festival, the UK celebration of Black music and art, returns to various venues in Birmingham, in the Midlands. This year’s festivities run from Sunday 1st to Saturday 14th June 2014.

Line-up

1st JuneCurtis Lynch presents “Made In Britain” Theme Song Challenge – 12 hours to make a track from scratch using artists from Birmingham – will Curtis get this on air by 8pm?

2nd JuneBass Informs Sessions – An opportunity for young artists to hear and learn from the biggest and best names in the industry.

3rd JuneMade In Britain via Soho Road – A celebratory look at the impact and influence of the Bhangra scene on the UK music output.

4th JuneBabylon screening & Q&A with Brinsley Forde A classic British movie at a 1980’s price of admission! Plus a chance to question the film’s main star.

5th JuneCut The Chat – A sideways look at Britain in 2014, utilising the setting of all great debates – the barber shop! Starring DJ Ace from BBC Radio 1Xtra.

6th JuneUpfront Comedy ft Curtis Walker & John Simmitt – Big night of comedy.

7th JuneDJ Bailey & Friends Drum & Bass Silent Disco – One of the stalwarts of D&B in the UK 3 channels of headset pressure with special guest Dj’s including Crissy Criss.

8th JuneBBC Radio 1Xtra presents DJ Target – One of the most influential radio programmes to promote UK music comes to BASS14 showcasing the Birmingham scene – live on 1Xtra.

9th JuneDisrupt presents Grime Unplugged – A night of acoustic grime featuring Ghetts, Manchester’s Blizzard and Eyez from Derby amongst others.

10th JuneMade In The Moment – Visual art with a difference – Art installation created “there and then” by Birmingham based visual artist Sweaty Eskimo.

11th JuneMade In Erdington - A community project showcasing some young talents from Erdington

12th JuneMade In The Midlandslocal talent born & bred in the Midlands all accompanied by a live band

13th JuneRenowned presents The Renowned Crew ft Jacob Banks, Funny Tummy, George The Poet & Knox Brown – An opportunity to interact and get creative with the management and production agency and it’s roster

14th JuneBASS14 “Made By Punch” Finale Showcase & Party – A chance to celebrate the work that festival producers Punch have done working with UK artists over the last 12 months including participants on projects such as “Best Of British ATL”, “We Live The Dream”, “Made In Britain”, “Angie Stone UK Tour 2014” and “Soul Acoustic 2014”. (*Invitation Only)

Theme

Now in the 9th year of the festival, the festival theme for 2014 is Made In Britain, with a range of music, arts and fashion events in venues across the city.
