H2006:Beached is a FREE live music event held on South Bay beach in Scarborough.

This will be the sixth year of the festival which has grown from a one day concert to a festival of film, comedy, chat, dance and live music.

This year’s festival kicks off with a Beached Cinema Night on Thursday 17th August. The film shown will depend on the results of a poll of 10 films that is currently taking place on the Beached website, and the top-polling film will be shown on the beach at 7.30pm.

On Friday 18th August, the Geoff Laycock Big Band will take to the stage. Geoff Laycock himself was a Scarborough resident until his death in 2005, this band is made up of musicians who performed with him over the last 30 years.

From 12 noon until 6pm on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th August, the Beached Acoustic Tent, also on the beach, near the main stage, will feature a range of solo and acoustic acts performing 20-minute sets.

There will then be a whole range of rock and pop acts on both Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August on the main stage from 12 noon until midnight. Bands confirmed so far include Rick Witter (Shed 7), The Fratellis, Amsterdam, Tabby (of X Factor fame), Chris Helme (Seahorses), Silent Partners (ex-Northside), Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and plenty of local bands such as the Bonnitts, The Scaramange Six and Kava Kava.

The Saturday night also sees a new innovation for H20:Beached when the festival, in partnership with BBC Radio, hosts a silent disco.
