Now in it's 19th year and claiming to be England's biggest and busiest jazz extravaganza, the emphasis of this 10-day event is on maximum accessibility to the public with over 200 shows in some 70 venues citywide.

More than 250,000 people come into contact with the festival every year with nearly 90% of the events free of charge.

From shopping arcades and department stores to city streets and squares, the festival aims to make its mark on the life of the city. Pubs, hotels, cafés and restaurants play host to performances while the music flows into parks, arts, leisure and community centres.
