Bristol's biggest free event, the 42nd Bristol Harbour Festival takes place on Bristol's harbourside with the main festival weekend taking place from Friday 26th until Sunday 28th July 2013.
The Bristol Harbour Festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to explore the two mile stretch of the harbour featuring seven areas including dance, music, children's activities, a busy on-water programme and phenomenal circus performances.
Line-up
The Cirque Bijou Circus Stage and Children's Area is positioned in Castle Park featuring world renowned circus acts throughout the weekend. Castle Park hosts the Colston Hall Stage which opens on Friday night and features a diverse mix of music all weekend, alongside the renowned continental market.
Millennium Square features the Dance Stage, programmed by Swindon Dance, and you can get involved yourself at the participation stage right on the harbourside. The Amphitheatre is a hive of activities with a green living zone, Happy City stage, Happy City Live illustration event and a selection of yachts and ships alongside to explore.
Cascade Steps features the Jelli Records Stage with acoustic acts, slam poetry and some brilliant talent in a perfect natural arena.
Family friendly
Castle Park offers an array of children friendly activities including storytelling, creative activities, face painting and interactive performances. Cirque Bijou will dazzle the crowds with a full circus stage, complete with aerial and static trapeze performers, juggling, acrobatics and hoop artists.

The festival is a rich and diverse platform for the cityÂÂs wealth of creativity, from dance performers to circus acts and a variety of musical stages including walking bands, interactive theatre and so much more. The festival stretches two miles from Brunel's SS Great Britain to M Shed and from Queen Square to the city's Castle Park. There will also be an range of festival markets and food stalls offering visitors a choice of culinary delights.
Fireworks
Saturday night fireworks are back as Clevedon-based Firemagic(UK) present their popular fireworks display in the sky all around Bristol's historic harbour. The display will take place on Saturday night at 10pm.
Accommodation
This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the Bristol area.
