Offering a week of music performances and workshops on the East Devon coast (just down the road from Sidmouth) for lovers of serious and classical music.

This is the fifth year of the Festival. The mix over 8 days will be classical music presented by national and international artists. There will also be a concentration this year on the graphic arts with a special exhibition constructed by associates in the town. The programme of events has been confirmed as follows:

Thursday 23 July - Henschel Quartet from Munich augmented by renowned pianist Gottlieb Wallisch. The programme will be in two parts: as a quartet the Henschel will play the Schubert Death and the Maiden and as a piano quintet will perform the great Brahms Op 34 in F minor. Gottlieb Wallisch will offer a late evening recital on Friday.
Friday 24 July - Finnish American violinist Kurt Nikkonen will give a recital and then a late evening concert on the following day. Kurt is completing his European Tour with this concert.
Saturday 25 July - Ben Palmer conducts the Orchestra of St. Paul's in performances of Baber the Elephant and Peter and the Wolf with the addition of the Cygnet theatre who will present a specially commissioned work to complement the music.
Sunday 26 July - At 3pm Salem Chapel plays host to Gerald Dickens, and 'Radio Budleigh' by the Salterton Drama Club in the Playhouse at 7.30pm.
Monday 27 July - On Monday there will be the appearance of the Bach Camerata under conductor Nigel Perrin, and at the Methodist Church Charlotte Marino on clarinet and Pamela Marino on piano.
Tuesday 28 July - Puccini's La Bohème by the New Devon Opera. Once again after London auditions there will be international class soloists, a fine chorus and the orchestra under MD Paul Foster.
Wednesday 29 July - a celebration of modern song. This year it takes the form of Nicholas Marshall's Cantata Even Such Is Time. There will be a second half containing works by Percy Grainger.
Thursday 30 July - the virtuoso pianist Phillip Dyson will play a programme of classical and modern pieces. There will also be a late evening performance by Phillip Dyson in the Temple Church.
Friday 31 August - Robert Foster on Electronic music for TV. There will also be an evening performance by Natalie Clein and Friends in the Temple Church.

Saturday 1 August - St. Peter's Church will have an evening with soloist Natalie Clein and The Festival Orchestra. At 2pm there will be a Children's Theatre Workshop at Temple Church.

A very special night is planned for both Friday and the final Saturday but it is too early to announce this just yet.

The usual free lunchtime concerts are expected to be held nearly every day, plus there will be walks, talks and exhibitions to enjoy.

There is expected to be children's events in plenty.

The box office will open on Friday 15th May 2009.
