City Showcase the London based music event, now celebrating its 10th Anniversary Year showcases emerging talent in gigs that are all FREE and not for profit. This year will see the event happen from Wednesday 4th until Sunday 8th May.

Each day there are gigs as well as events, showcases, workshops, and seminars taking place.

Line-up

80 acts, 36 venues including 20 in Regent Street area. Also covering Balham, Deptford, Camden, Brick Lane.

Tuesday 9th October
The opening party for City Showcase will take place at The Bedford Arms in Balham with Lilygreen & Maguire, Elsie, Linn Oberg, Bim, and Robert Vincent and entry will be free.

Tin Soldiers, and My Little Empire at 93 Feet East, and Lucy Kitt, and The Blind Hearts at Floridita, Random Impulse, The Musgraves, and Fella, at Barfly, and an electronic music programme at Café 1001.

Wednesday 10th October
Josephine, and Alexander Wolfe at The Borderline, Danny Shah, and Boy Cloud Kid at 100 Club.

Thursday 11th October
Ocasan, We Are Lost Boys, and Lillian Todd Jones at the Borderline, Rev 78, and Fractures at the 100 Club, and Passport to Stockholm, and Gem & The Deadheads at 229.

Friday 12th October
Manflu and Vinyl Black Stilettos at the Borderline, and Warehouse Republic, and Canvas Wall at 229

The closing party will take place at the Amersham Arms in Deptford/New Cross on Friday 12th October (for those aged 14 years old and over) will feature The Floodliners, and Callum Rafferty, and will also be free entry.

Saturday 13th October
Daytime events in the Regent Street area including a live stage on Heddon Street from 12-30 to 4-30 and artists performing in the City Showcase bloggers/media lounge downstairs at Tibits on Heddon Street which will also be hosting screenings of new filmmakers' works as well as photographic exhibitions. There are over 20 venues in the Regent Street area including The Apple Store, Ugg, Coast, Ted Baker, Brooks Brothers, Anthropologie, Quicksliver, and Kirk Originals, with acts appearing including She Makes War, Blue Balloon, English Sporting Defeat, The High Commissioners, Jack & The Arrows, Toodar, Alice Watts, Dagny (from Norway), and Louise Golby.

Other events

Complementing the real world creative experience set to take over Soho, City Showcase London 2012 will have a strong digital element with displays of new digital technologies at Inamo on Wardour Street and other West End locations. City Showcase is also hosting Festival Afternoons at The Phoenix 1.30pm-5-30pm Tuesday 9th to Friday 12th October featuring a music and multi media meeting hub in association with Naz Promotions/Rocklands and will feature daily film screenings, impromptu sessions, multimedia, network and free wi-fi.

Conference

For 2012, City Showcase has extended its 'Finding The Future' conference and networking schedule at Gibson Guitar Studios and at The Apple Store, Regent Street. The 4-day panel programme includes a conference on 12th October aimed at students. Participants include Alan Pell (A&R), Barrie Cadogan (Little Barrie), Chris Cooke (Unlimited Media), Chris Dyer (Zimbalem), Kerry Harvey-Piper (Red Grape), Martin Heath (Lizard King), Rob Hallett (AEG), Sean Devine (ASCAP), Sophie Garner (vocal coach), Stan McLeod (Bandwagon), Tony Moore, Tom Pakinkis (Music Week), Rob Hallett (AEG), Korda Marshall (infectious), David Eringa and Tony Wadsworth (BPI Chairman).

Tickets

Applications for wristbands can be made via the City Showcase website (closing date is Friday 28th September). Each wristband gives access to the full schedule of gigs and workshops plus discounts for other gigs, stores and restaurants in and around Regent Street. Without a wristband, entry to gigs and workshops will be £5 on the door on the day.

Ethos

This event provides public exposure, advice and mentoring, plus contacts that aspiring talent needs, and culminates in a series of live events in venues in London's West End (giving musicians the opportunity to perform in West End stores and legendary venues such as the Borderline).

The event will also host a series of workshops and seminars bringing together aspiring talent along with the most influential figures in the music industry.

Charity

This Year's charity is Kids Co. A new innovation for City Showcase's 10th Anniversary Year will see students acting as de facto journalists, taking photos, interviewing artists etc and uploading the content in blogs at Tibits.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
