Clun Green Man Festival 2010

The Clun Green Man Festival is a traditional springtime festival, held over three days on the first May Bank Holiday of the year from Saturday 1st to Monday 3rd May. The Festival takes place in the town of Clun in South Shropshire. The programme is full of live music, drama, and medieval malarkey and fun for all the family.

Saturday

The festival kick-starts with The Shepherds playing live at Clun Memorial Hall on Saturday 1st May. Admission is by ticket only, £15 from the White Horse Inn, tel. 01588 640305 and Enterprise House.

Sunday

Sunday is a free day of street entertainment. The programme is full of live music, drama, colour and medieval malarkey and is fun for all the family.

Monday

From noon on Monday a procession through the town precedes the dramatic battle between the Green Man and Dame Frostie, the Spirit of Winter, fought out on Clun Bridge. The Green Man must win if they are to have a Summer in Clun!

All being well, the Green Man will then open the May Fair on Clun Castle Meadow with craft demonstrations, strolling musicians and maypole dancing, puppet shows, story telling, entertainers, circus acts, workshops and duck racing on the River Clun plus a variety of stalls and refreshments.

On Monday afternoon there's a Medieval Street Fair (£3 adults, £1 kids, under 5s free) expect Mummers, Morris dancing, street entertainers, jesters and unicylists, live music, medieval re-enactment, market and food stalls, and more.
