Evolving from a long running party at Achnacloich, Argyll, in 1991, from a few friends around a bonfire into three stages with some dozen acts. This is the second Dunstaffnage Music Festival.

The festival is held on a green field with views across Loch Linnhe to the Island of Lismore and in the shadow of Dunstaffnage Castle. Several festival favourites played last year including the Peatbog Fairies, Pronghorn and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band who headlined.

Dunstaffnage Music Festival (Oban) takes place on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th of July. With a capacity of 4000 per day and full camping facilities, the intimate atmosphere is fed by 4 stages from mid-day till 1am delivering a blend of national and international talent encompassing both established and breaking artists and spanning a wide array of musical styles including indie, rock, reggae, folk, Celtic, electronic, funk, soul, jazz and dance.

Bands playing on the main bands stage are The Law, The Rumble Strips, 1990's, The Cinematics, Levellers, Isoceles, Pop up, How to Swim, Found, The Amphetameanies, Pama International, Theatre Fall, The Needles, Nanobots, O B E, Poison Sisters, and Yellow Bentines.

Playing in the Organic Beats tent are The Under Skirts, Mark Robb presents “The Regal Social Club”, Union of Knives, Alex Smoke, Galchen, The Little Digitals, Moog Groove, Kinky Afro, Kid-Twist, Jim Hutchison, Record Playerz, Andy Pirie (Melting Pot), and Western Alliance.

Tickets are available on-line or by Phone and are £60.00 for the weekend or £35.00 for the day, with free camping.

Although there is free camping on the festival site, revellers will be asked to donate at least 2 pounds each to the Cash For Kids Trust this year. The support of Cash for Kids ensures that, with the aid of festival-goers donations, children facing financial, emotional and physical challenges are given encouragement and comfort.

Additionally bands and VIP guests slipping in the back door will be asked to make a donation to Nordoff Robbins Music therapy. The Nordoff Robbins Music therapy in Scotland allows therapists to use music to help children and adults with a wide range of needs arising from such varied causes as learning difficulties, mental and physical illness, physical and sexual abuse, stress and terminal illness. Emotional, cognitive and developmental needs can be addressed through interactive music making within a secure relationship offered by the music therapist.

More information will be posted here as it becomes available.
