Faster Than sound is a sound experiment joining the dots between musical genres and digital art forms. The event which started in June 2006, is now a trilogy which takes place at Bentwaters Airbase in Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk; Aldeburgh Cinema; and the Snape Maltings Concert Hall.
Friday starts with: Faster Than Sound: Stimmung, six voices sing a seminal piece of vocal music which starts at 10pm in the Snape Maltings Concert Hall. The evening is completed with Faster Than Light, a trip through film with music and image from midnight in Aldeburgh Cinema.
Saturday sees Faster Than Sound: The Hush House, with invited performers which include Plaid, Vladislav Delay, Mira Calix + Quayloa, Johann Johannsson, Tim Exile, Hauschka, Stefan Schneider, Oblique House, Larry Groves, Philip Neil Martin, Helena Gough, Emily Hall, Weirdcore, Semiconductor, Sarah Nicolls, Felix's Machines, and Anna Meredeth, performing in an acoustically sealed chamber with visuals from Quayola. Artists from various backgrounds will collaborate and explore the worlds of electronic music genres, contemporary classical practice and interactive visual arts. A range of installations, musical collaborations, a wireless walk in the woods, illuminated cold war buildings and a large dome filled with inspiring sounds will make this a day you wont forget.
Tickets cost £10 in advance for Saturday (under 27s half price); £5 for Saturdays faster than Light film night at the cinema; £10 in advance for Sunday or £15 on door; £20 for all three events. To buy tickets, click here.
