'Freedom' is a FREE music and live arts festival which takes place annually in Hull city centre.
Started as a one day event and now expanded to three the weekend combines history, culture, art, dance, dramatic action and music.
Freedom is planned as an annual live arts and music event that will celebrate freedom in all its forms. Hull's most famous son William Wilberforce was a leading light of the anti-slavery movement and the city's involvement with modern human rights issues continues today through the work of the Wilberforce Institute for the Study of Slavery and Emancipation.
