I did not really expect Flipside to play on the 'alternative' stages today...through black relentless skies no sun shone, and idle wind vanes just stood, forlorn. Flipside were playing though, remarkably enough, hammering out their unique blend of World percussion, and festival psychedelia:this band is made for festivals. Halfway through their set and competing with the same time slot as Portishead, the audience had grown into a dancing gyrating throng. Sometimes wild sometimes mellow but always interesting, their music captivated the real festival mood clearly transcending climatic conditions to give us some real depth and colour.
Stage: Sunshine Stage, Green Futures Field
Day: Friday
Overunity, the people behind the sound produced an excellent mix, delivering both clarity and power. I'm told that Flipside have been gathering wide support and respect Countrywide whisking up energy wherever they choose to perform and are playing all the major festivals for the remainder of the year. This gig was fresh, musical surprises! aplenty delivered with seemingly effortless professionalism. I look forward to having my senses reeling in the future !!
