It was difficult to tell who enjoyed the performance more - the crowd or Tony. Having been soothed by an excellent if slightly overwhelmed set by Space, the Sunday crowd were hungry for entertainment. What they got was an old-school entertainer, from the days when they made 'em properly. I'm sure I'm not the only one who knew few of the songs that Tony performed, but his total charm sucked in every last rain-soaked one of his massive audience. The man himself looked really touched by the enthusiasm of his reception, but this was exactly what we had wanted. A reason why we'd come to this beautiful place and put up with days of relentless rain and mud and cold. Tony showed a new generation exactly what our grandparents saw in him. From his mid-afternoon slot he ruled the festival.
