At last, no longer a Glasto virgin but a Glasto babe!! At least that's what I keep telling myself. Just turned 30 and have finally made it to Glastonbury and what a fab time was had.
Went mainly to see the Manics as I wasn't sure if I would be in the UK or not for their December gigs (not as high flying exec as that souds though!!), even though I am now going to be here, I'm not sure I'd rush out to buy the tickets. Don't get me wrong, I love those guys but were they the same entertainment value as REM or Skunk Anasie?? Forget the music style, those two bands put on an excellent show.
Also good were FLC and Lenny. It was also quite cool (I know you blokes will thnk the opposite) to see Keanu in the middle of a field in Somerset. He was looking quite good.
Billy Bragg did himself proud and was well worth lying in the sun getting heat sroke with a few lagers for.
Anyway, all that was lacking was getting a good snog off a gorgeous right on socialist bloke (you know, a James Dean Bradfield with a bit of Keanu thrown in).
All I got was a couple of offers of rugrats - wot no teletubbies?! And a very drunk guy called Damian from Twickenham (about three miles away from me so bound to bump into him soon)who had really, really bad breath. I'm tolerant of a lot, but that took the piss!!
It was all a lot tamer than I thought it was going to be. Drug thing was under control which was good - don't get me wrong, I don't care who does drugs or the fact that they're around its just that some of us don't need them and I just don't want it in my face. Alcohol is my drug - thought the beer tents were a bit steep though - capitalism creeping in in a big way me thinks!
Top show - organisers take a bow!
