I got a text message on Saturday: "Simon Leveller Leftfield 12.30". I was bemused - were not the Levellers at a festival in Italy? I turned up.

Me and a group of devoted Levellers fans discussed the possibilities, was it really Simon of the Levellers on next, would he sing or just be talking politics, would he play Levellers songs? A guitar appeared our hearts glowed.

Simon walked on and set about 'Boatman' - a Levellers classic. We were in heaven. An excellent acoustic set of mainly Leveller classics ensued. We called for more, we got more. He left the stage with us still wondering how this marvel had occurred. Just another magical moment from the mystery that is Glastonbury.
