The Great Escape features hundreds of international and UK pop, cutting edge, hip hop, electronic, and rock acts showcased at venues all over Brighton.
The dates for 2011 are confirmed as Thursday 12th until Saturday 14th May 2011.
Line-up
The line-up is complete, acts confirmed include DJ Shadow, Friendly Fires, Sufjan Stevens (Dome Shows), plus The View, Guillemots, Okkervil River, White Denim, Beardyman, Anna Calvi, Example, Frank Turner, The Vaccines, The Naked & Famous, Gang Gang Dance, Yuck, The Radio Dept., Dinosaur Pile Up, Katy B, Warpaint, The Joy Formidable, Villagers, Twin Shadow, Marnie Stern, Alela Diane, Max Richter, Hauschka, Little Dragon, Smoke Fairies, D/R/U/G/S, Brother, Becoming Real, Trophy Wife, PVT, Dutch Uncles, Tribes, SBTRKT, and many more.The line-up will include over 300 acts from around the globe in around 30 venues within Brighton City Centre. This year's partner country has been confirmed and will be Ireland, so expect a host of Irish acts to join up with over 350 bands performing in over 34 venues spread across Brighton over the course of three days.
Speakers
As well as the live music, there's also a number of "Parkinson" style interviews with luminaries from the world of Music and Media, to show the way in which success is achieved, as well as educational panels, workshops and networking sessions.Speakers and panels confirmed include producer Tony Wadsworth, the former Chairman and CEO of EMI Music UK & Ireland and current Chairman of record industry trade body the BPI, Paul Epworth in conversation, plus key players from PRS for Music, Deloitte, BMG UK, Cooking Vinyl, Various Artists Management and ACUMEN Media Law. DJ Shadow will be 'in conversation' about his pioneering career on Friday 13th May where he will provide a unique insight into his work to date, and explain how the Shadowsphere was both conceived and realised. HMV's Simon Fox, Topspin's Ian Rogers, Bandcamp's Andrew Dubber, Radio 2's Jeff Smith, The Guardian's Caspar Llewellyn Smith, 7Digital's Ben Drury, ATC's Arwen Hunt, BASCA's Patrick Rackow, Wired's Duncan Geere, Exceptional Records' Bob Fisher, PPL's Keith Harris, TV and festival booker Ali Anselmo, plus Frank Turner in conversation with 6music's Matt Everitt.
Tickets
The early bird offer has now ended, 3 day tickets are priced at £49.50. A Thursday ticket is priced at £22.50, a Friday ticket is priced at £27.50, and a Saturday ticket £30 (sold out). To buy tickets, click here.This year, a small number of shows will take place at The Dome in Brighton with DJ Shadow, Friendly Fires, and Sufjan Stevens. Dome Show Single Gig Tickets start at £15 per show or top up a festival wristband at £6 per show. Only Friendly Fires are still available.
The Hub
New to this year's festival is the Hub, based at Jubilee Square right in the centre of Brighton. The Hub is an interactive space where wristbands can be collected, festival merchandise can be purchased, and live music, drinks, and more will be available. Wristband exchange will be open at the Hub from Wednesday 11th 5pm 9pm, Thursday 12th 10am-9pm, Friday 13th 10am 9pm and Saturday 14th 10am to 9pm.More information will be here when available.
