Greenbelt is an all-age Arts Festival with its roots in the Christian faith and a welcome that's wide and inclusive. It's a place to learn, to experience, to be. It's like nothing else in the world, and that's what keeps thousands of people keep coming back year after year.
Greenbelt features a great range of music on 5 stages and showcases brand new artists and bands. In addition, the Festival hosts a selection of varied talks, workshop and debates; exploring contemporary issues, faith, social justice, politics and more.
The first few acts for this year are confirmed, with Billy Bragg to headline the Main Stage on the Friday (and he'll also take part in a panel debate on the Saturday around the idea of a new Bill of Rights). The full music bill is yet to be firmed up, but does include Chas & Dave, and Rosie Thomas.
Non music things include Sister Frances Dominica, the childrens hospice pioneer and founder of Helen House (recently the subject of a groundbreaking documentary series on BBC2), the Head of Friends of the Earth, Tony Juniper, world-renowned Jewish theologian Marc Ellis, Greenbelt favourite and Iona Community leader and broadcaster, John Bell and female Muslim activist and writer Naima Bouteldja.
There will also be talks on the abolition of the slave trade, environmental justice and a fresh focus on engaging with and seeking to understand Islamic fundamentalism.
Greenbelt also has a visual and performing arts programme, exploring a variety of alternative worship styles, and runs a daily Children's Festival.
