HowTheLightGetsIn is an annual philosophy and music festival offering over a hundred events, plus live performances. The event, now in its second year, is held at Hay-on-Wye in Powys, Wales from Friday 28th May to Sunday 6th June 2010.

Line-up

The acts announced include Slow Club, Laura Dockrill aka Dockers MC, Sweet Baboo, Muchuu, King Creosote, Robin Ince, Book Club Boutique, Babel Fish, Blaenavon Male Voice Choir, Jonny Blamey, Cate le Bon, Jess Childs, Bethan Elfyn, Johnny Flynn, Aubrey Fry, The HeebieJeebies, Islet, Philip Jeays, Kieron Johnson, KGB Slideshow, Josie Long, Little Fish, Love & Mercy (Man Make Music), Lulu & the Lampshades, Man Like Me, Man Without Country, Alan McGee, Gaynor O'Flynn, Henry Paker, Ewan Pearson, Plaster of Paris, Jonathan Powell, The Roots Union, John Rostron, Ana Silvera, Huw Stephens, Richard Strange, Martha Tilston, Richard Walters, The Mouths, and Mike Wozniak.

Philosophy sessions include such luminaries as Lewis Wolpert, Robert Winston, Mary Midgley, John Dupre, Aubrey de Grey, Mary Warnock, Giles Fraser, Jon Cruddas, Douglas Murray, Alex Callinicos, Philip Pullman, Roger Penrose, and Zygmunt Bauman, with more to be announced.

The New Culture Minister Ed Vaizey will be joining us at HowTheLightGetsIn to discuss A Change of Culture. With a new coalition government in place and a new arts policy, rising star Ed will be sharing his vision for the future of culture in Britain. Other confirmed speakers include Jon Cruddas, Will Hutton, Helena Kennedy, Johann Hari, Geoff Mulgan, Mary Ann Sieghart, Philip Blond, David Aaronovitch, and many more, will debate the changed face of the British political scene at this year's festival.

The festival invites guests to 'think/listen/dance/play', and offers a programme ranging from philosophy seminars to arts and theatre workshops and musical performances.

Camping

There is camping and parking available at Tangerine fields which is within a few hundred yards of the festival site. With on-site toilets, showers and added security as well as a Pamper Parlour, the Tangerine Fields site offers you everything you could want for a unique festival experience.
