The Ipswich Summer Arts Festival runs for a month, from Friday 15th June to Saturday 14th July. Over that time Ipswich aims to become the cultural focus for arts in the region, with a full programme of events from music and drama through to visual art, film, and literature by national and locally based organisations and artists.
Line-up
One central event is The Music Day which takes place on Sunday 1st July. This year sees the 21st anniversary of Ipswich Music Day, one of the largest free one-day music events in the UK. A free family event, showcasing many acts on the local music scene, with six stages set in the surroundings of Christchurch Park and Mansion. This is expected to include plenty of activities for children, including a small fairground. Car parking will be free. The line-up for this is:

The Ipswich & Suffolk Indian Association holds its tenth Indian Summer Mela, a colourful celebration of South Asian culture on Sunday 8th July.

Other entertainment
The live Doctor Who adventure will play in Ipswich from 15 June - 8 July as part of the London 2012 Festival. There will be an eclectic mixture of attractions, performances and events that appeal to a wide audience. Dance, visual arts, poetry, music, theatre, literature, opera, and cinema, are amongst the 60 plus events on offer.
Spaces
As well as using the more traditional spaces, Ip-art takes exhibitions and performances into public buildings and spaces throughout the town. This colourful combination aims to include tradition, innovation and imagination within the arts in Ipswich.
