The Lewes Guitar Festival was born in 1999 through a desire to celebrate the town's strong connection with the instrument since there are four full time and three part-time workshops. The small town of Lewes has become a hub of guitar-making with a constant flow of students of all ages too.

There will be weekday evening concerts to showcase the length and breadth of the guitar world, featuring jazz, blues, folk and world genres plus a Friday night showcase with Seth Lakeman headlining in the Festival Big Top, Mountfield Road from 7.30pm onwards; and Richard Thompson (headlining), with Kate Walsh and John Redfern in the Festival Big Top on Saturday.

Other events take place at the All Saints Arts Centre including: the Tomas Jimenez Flamenco Group in a lunchtime concert on Sunday, 13th May, and Amanda Cook in the evening; and more flamenco from the Carmen Mesa Flamenco Group on Saturday evening. There is also a Spanish Guitar Show on Sunday from 10am until 5pm.
