The only major annual event in London devoted entirely to the song repertoire. A series of song recitals and concerts featuring major artists alongside the best young talent from the UK and overseas, specially commissioned works from exciting young composers. There's master-classes in the song repertoire given by World-class artists. The concerts will take place at St Paul's Church, Covent Garden, London in May and June and in October and November. The first part running from Wednesday 15th May to Wednesday 5th June 2013.
The 2013 London Song Festival will celebrate the bi-centenaries of Verdi and Wagner, with performances of both composers' entire output of songs. It will also include a concert to mark the centenary of the Association of English Singers and Speakers and the publication of the final three volumes of 'A Century of English Song'. In addition to the concerts a Master Class for young singers will be held.

Wednesday 15th May: London Song Festival master-class, tutor to be confirmed.Concert 1
Thursday 23rd May: The Complete Songs of Richard Wagner, in celebration of his bi-centenary. - Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder with their original piano parts form the core of this evening's concert. He composed this cycle while working on Tristan und Isolde and the music of that opera, particularly the Act Two duet and the prelude to Act Three, permeates the song cycle. The concert will also feature all of Wagner's completed French songs and the rarely performed Sieben Kompositionen zu Goethes Faust. Wednesday 29th May: Association of English Singers and Speakers Centenary Concert This concert also celebrates the publication of the final three volumes of 'A Century of English Song' Sarah Leonard - soprano, Stephen Varcoe - baritone, Nigel Foster - piano.Concert 3
Wednesday 5th June: The complete songs of Giuseppe Verdi in celebration of his bi-centenary. Elizabeth Llewellyn - soprano, tenor to be confirmed, Nigel Foster - piano.All concerts take place in the church of St Paul, Covent Garden and begin at 7.30pm.
