Getting there
Direct trains run from Amsterdam to Lelystad Centrum, and take about an hour. From Lelystad a free shuttle buses take visitors to the festival site which is in a remote location, don't expect to be able to make any purchases at nearby shops.
Local laws and customs
Under Dutch law, possession of up to 5g of marijuana or the equivalent of hashish is tolerated. However, it is unsure whether foreigners will still be able to purchase any legally in 2013 due to stricter coffee shop laws which enforce a membership scheme which is only open to Dutch citizens. Lowlands allows visitors to bring up to 8 litres of drinks with them to the camping grounds. Other than what one can pour into a plastic cup none of that is allowed on the festival grounds. Glass bottles are strictly forbidden, including in the campsite.
