Braunston Festival takes place during August Bank Holiday Weekend in Northamptonshire. This new festival combines music,film, food and book events with all the fun of the village fair. The emphasis is on local participation-whether it be the artists and celebrities taking part, the food and wine or the festival organisers and helpers. The festival takes place from Saturday 28th to Monday 30th August 2010 at various locations in Braunston, all within a short distance of each other.

Line-up

The festival patron is former Braunston resident and Whitbread Prize-winning author William Trevor KBE. Taking part are acts including Tim Butcher, Eliza Carthy, Creative Writers at the Museum, Elissa Elwick, Sophie Hannah, Andy Lambert, Pete Lawrence, Royal Oak Morris, Sheelanagig, and Chris Wood.

Saturday 28th August- Village Feast
The best culture and food of the Midlands, from award winning author Sophie Hannah, journalist and best selling writer Tim Butcher, Floating Opera with the Birmingham Conservatoire, Roald Dahl Museum storytellers, local poets, film screenings, mini beer festival, perfect ploughman's competition, bicycle-powered smoothies and a variety of local foods and wines.

Sunday 29th August-Sport Sunday
Kicks off at midday with matches, games and fun activities aimed at all ages and fitness levels. On offer are cricket, football, tug of war, street dance, Boules, a climbing wall and old family favourites such as egg and spoon and three legged races. BBQ, beer tent, speciality pies and tea at the cricket pavilion will cater for those in need of refuelling.

Monday 30th August- Music in the Park
Liz Kershaw will introduce a highly acclaimed line-up including Mercury Prize nominated Eliza Carthy and Chris Wood, Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year. DJ Pete Lawrence, founder of The Big Chill festival and music producer for the Braunston Festival, will give a chilled set before world music band Sheelanagig provide a rousing finale to the event.

Other entertainment and activities will include Royal Oak Morris, film, photography and t-shirt printing workshops, face-painting, sing and sign sessions, secret music garden.

This unique three day event is organised by Field Day Arts, a community interest company set up to develop arts and cultural events in the local area.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
