THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
Itchycoo Park has been cancelled.
A statement from organisers says:
"We are sorry to inform you that due to bad weather Itchycoo Park Festival is being postponed. Unfortunately circumstances have dictated that we will be unable to run the festival in June. Following a recent site view, it was determined that the recent patch of bad weather and the effect that the persistent rain has had on the grounds would pose a risk to the vehicles coming in to set up the festival site. Going ahead with the event will also cause great ruin the grounds themselves and put the polo club out of action for the season.
We did attempt to come up with an alternative date but logistics have proven this to be rather difficult. We are deeply saddened that this event can not take place this year and we will be refunding every ticket already purchased.
We would like to thank everyone for your support and apologise that we are unable to go ahead.
We hope that next year the weather will be in our favour and we can attempt to make this event even more special for you all.
We do hope you can join us next year."
A host of bands and performers, from former band mates, collaborators and peers to close friends and family members - including Bill Wyman, Lulu, Donovan, PP Arnold, Mike Rutherford, Joe Brown, Steve Craddock, Sam Brown and Mollie Marriott - will join original member Kenney Jones to pay musical homage to the band, and in particular the skills of the songwriting pair that was responsible for some of the most amazing, uplifting and timeless songs of that decade, and for many years to follow Marriott and Lane.
"I'm really excited about the festival," said Kenney. "It's something Ive been trying to do for ages, and the fact that its finally happening in the same year that The Small Faces and The Faces are inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, is perfect timing and just so fitting."
"My only regret is that Steve and Ronnie cant be with us in person, to see thousands of people grooving along to their music again, just like they did back in the day. But theyll be there in spirit, thats for sure."
The Small Faces split in 1969, without ever playing the whole 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake' LP live, something they always regretted. Kenney will be putting this right on the Sunday night, when he plays the album live, with a number of special guests and orchestral accompaniment.
The Itchycoo Park Festival can accommodate up to 5,000 visitors each day. As well as two stages hosting an impressive and extensive line-up of bands and performers, the festival will also boast a shopping zone incorporating a farmers market selling a range of local produce, numerous catering options and bars, ample parking and camping facilities, and a delightful circus-themed kids zone.
