We Invented the Weekend 2024

Following a hugely succesful 2023 edition which saw 60,000 visitors in attendance across the two days, We Invented the Weekend, the free festival is returning to MediaCity and Salford Quays on the 15th and 16th of June 2024 and will feature 200+ free activities across the weekend, highlights include DJ Paulette, Sacha Lord, Melanin Markets, Mr Motivator, Bluey, CBeebies Bedtime Stories and British Cycling.
Line-up
An infectious music offering is planned across the festival with Secret Night Gang, the funky disco group hailing from Manchester, DJ Roesh, Unity Radio presents Zed Bias, Eves Drop Collective and Playhouse Project.
The party won't just be on land as a line-up of free boat parties will be making waves hosted by the likes of Salford Pride with drag performer Bailey J Mills, Manchester Lit & Phil, Age UK, post-punk-trio LIINES, as well as a Power Ballads boat. Hacienda legend DJ Paulette (pictured) will be spinning classics in a Sunday afternoon slot on the Piazza stage, with DJ Mix Stress also bringing her unique mix of vibes to the decks. Salford underground favourites Sounds from The Other City will takeover Central Bay, inviting festival-goers to dance to a range of DJs on the waterfront terraces.
Tickets
All events are free and mostly un-ticketed, a small number of events may be bookable.
Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
More Info
A personal allowance of 12 cans of beer/lager/cider OR 2 bottles of wine per person. No spirits are allowed.
There will be daytime and family activities, info to come.
