Oxjam, the biggest music festival in the UK, is a festival with a difference: thousands of events put on by music lovers from large-scale festivals to local sponsored busks throughout October. taking over stages, back rooms and street corners to make music and raise money for Oxfam with gigs, DJ sets, busks and much more.
Since 2006, more than 36,000 musicians have played to an audience of over 750,000 people at almost 3,000 Oxjam events, raising in excess of £1.2 million to fight poverty around the world. Oxjam 2010 is expected to take the total past £1.5 million, enough to buy safe water for 1.6 million people, 750,000 bags of seeds or 60,000 goats.

A London Oxfam shop will stage a series of exclusive, intimate performances, among the books and clothing on the shop floor itself to launch the charity's month-long Oxjam music festival.The Oxfam shop in London, whose location remains a secret until the week of the gigs, will become an Oxjam shop for the week, selling the best second-hand music in the city during the day. During the evening, it will be converted into a gig venue, playing host to these intimate performances in front of a just a handful of fans lucky enough to get their hands on a ticket.

The charity shop gigs officially launch the Oxjam month of music, which runs through the whole of October. During October, more than 950 venues, 2,000 volunteers, 6,000 bands and musicians and 135,000 audience members will enable Oxjam to raise £500,000 to help Oxfam fight poverty. Oxjam is a festival with a difference: thousands of fundraising music events are put on by ordinary people - from large-scale festivals to local sponsored busks - making it the biggest line-up of any music festival in the UK.
Faithless will perform at one of the highlights of the volunteer-organised events, with a special show on 1 October at the Coronet in London, supported by a cast of dance music stars.

The Oxjam Takeover
The highlight of the month-long festival will be the Oxjam Takeover, a series of city-wide mini-festivals taking place in 31 locations across the UK, from Aberdeen to Bournemouth, on the weekend of 23 and 24 October. Oxjam Southampton Takeover Festival - Sunday 24th October which features over 60 acts including Charly Coombes & The New Breed, Subgiant, Nat Jenkins, I Dream In Colour, Origami Dinosaur, The Supernovas, Arp Attack, Thomas Tantrum, The Family, Fly, Frankie, Fly, Mr Tom, Ben Dlugokecki, Arp Attack, Haunted Stereo, and Oresteia, plus Burlesque performers, comedians and poets to raise money for Oxfam's work fighting poverty around the world. Oxjam Kilburn Takeover Festival - Saturday 23rd October Oxjam Kilburn will be taking over Kilburn High Road once again from 4pm for a 12 hour Oxjam spectacular. Over 40 acts will perform across five live music venues (Luminaire, The Kings Head, The Good Ship, Powers, The North London Tavern), all to raise funds for Oxfam! Oxjam Brecon Takeover Festival - kicks off at 2pm on Saturday 16th October. With 50 acts set to perform, playing 6 stages throughout the town in aid of Oxfam, venues include The Gremlin, The Rugby Club, The Markets Tavern, Theatr Brycheiniog, The Corries Club and The Northcote Con Club. Line-up includes Richard James, Draw Me Stories, Spencer McGarry Season, Threatmantics, The Gentle Good, Huw M, Jo Bartlet, Ceri Frost, Evening Chorus, Pamela Wyn Shannon, Little Eris, Circle of One, The Long Knives, All The Damn Vampires, All Our Glory, and Fellon Black Days. Leadenhall Market for a FREE 12-hour extravaganza of local music, food and fun on 22 October. Alongside music from London acts there will be games, raffles and food!
