Plymouth Respect Festival has been cancelled.
A statement from Plymouth Respect Festival says:
"Respect Festival 2014 – Dear friends of Respect, it comes with great pain that we must make this announcement. In light of the current financial environment, we have had to make the difficult decision that we Plymouth and Devon Racial Equality Council are unable to facilitate this year's Respect Festival on 4th and 5th October 2014. We will continue to work with our supporters to uphold the ethos of Respect to deliver a festival in 2015 for the communities of Plymouth. We will keep you updated and let you know the date of the next Respect as soon as we can. Thank you for all your support over the past decades and look forward to your support and participation for future years. Kind regards The Respect team ."
The celebration of Plymouth's multicultural society with a fusion of music, performance, arts and information returns on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October 2014.
Many cultures will represented at the event which is organised by the Plymouth and Devon Racial Equality Council.
Line-up
The first act to confirm are RSVP.
There will also be Respect 4 Respect - a whole programme of events happening alongside the Plymouth Respect Festival and throughout the rest of the year.
Other events
Discussions over the precise programme are ongoing, but it is hoped students from the University will in future play a larger part in the festival and that it would include related projects featuring the city’s primary and secondary schools.
Accommodation
This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
