The not-for-profit Southsea Fest features over a hundred up and coming bands and DJ's, the event looks to establish itself as a leading new music showcase for the south coast. Held quite marvellously on International 'Talk Like A Pirate' Day, 3,000 wristbands have been released for £12, which gain you entry into all 11 venues.

With 14 stages and a number of local establishments hosting mini events featuring DJ's, poetry and art. A visual element is being added in the form of a photographic exhibition across all venues, featuring 1960's & 70's images of Portsmouth based bands performing in the city, curated by Christina Gyles.

Established in 2007 as the Southsea Mini Music Fest, the one day charity event sold out its 350 capacity, held in aid of promoter Josie Curtis' younger brother to record an album, post a bone marrow transplant. Since then a number of small events have led the way for the nautical-themed festival to develop, with all profits from the day still going directly to charity.
