London's O2 Arena will play host to Stone Free Festival a new two-day event on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June 2016 at The O2, London.
Kilimanjaro Live and The O2 will bring a wealth of acts and events together under one roof on two 12-hour days of classic rock music performances over multiple stages, featuring special acoustic performances, Q&As with headline performers, cinema screenings at the Stone Free picture show, a vinyl fair, specialist market stalls, classic album playbacks, Rock Royalty VIP packages, craft beers and street food and restaurants.
Line-up
Saturday features Alice Cooper, plus The Darkness, and Blackberry Smoke, and on Sunday it's the turn of Rick Wakeman performing 'The Myths & Legends Of King Arthur & The Knights Of The Round Table', Marillio, Steve Hacket, Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here Symphonic Live will be performed - the show will include the 25-piece London Orion Orchestra who perform on Decca's 'Wish You Were Here Symphonic' plus Therapy?, Michael Monroe, The Lounge Kittens, Jackaman, Jared James Nichols, Haken, Apocalyptica, The Virginmarys, Knifeworld, Cats In Space, Jarred Christmas, Nick Helm, John Hastings, Dorje, Vodun, the RPMs, Xander And The Peace Pirates, Colour of Noise, Vambo, Bad Touch, and Messenger.
Plus latest additions Wilko Johnson, Broken Witt Rebels, Jack Francis, Robin Ince, Danielle Ward, Michael Legge, and Glenn Wool.
Stone Free Festival ticket holders will also be able to attend the very special event 'Roger Dean in conversation with Rick Wakeman'. Ticket holders will also be able to see The Darkness in an exclusive playback of their iconic debut album Permission to Land, with the band discussing the rollercoaster ride of that album and their career. VIP holders can watch David Quantick interviewing Alice Cooper.
Other performances include John Hastings and performer Michael Livesley with his reenactment of Vivian Stanshall's 'Sir Henry at Rawlinson End', 'Beer and Music Matching' with British writer Pete Brown, Lord Sinclair, will be bringing his 'Sick Things' Solid Rock Quiz to test all the rock aficionados. Leading photographer and graphic artist Carl Glover will also be giving a talk about his artwork for the Marillion albums Marbles, Radiation and Somewhere Else.
Festival goers can also enjoy The Beer Garden, Classic Rock Vinyl Fair, and The Stone Free Cinema will be screening two cult classics. John Carpenters ‘Prince Of Darkness’, which sees Alice Cooper lead an army of zombies in the supernatural horror will be shown on Saturday, followed by John Boorman’s ‘Excalibur’ on Sunday, the definitive King Arthur movie and warm up to Rick Wakeman’s Myths and Legends… performance.
Tickets
Day tickets for Saturday or Sunday are priced at £66.50 for standing or seating tickets, with Rock Royalty tickets priced from £120 to £226.50.
Accommodation
This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
