On site

The four-day festival celebrates its rebirth with lots of new content - including new venues, a bigger line-up and lots more, including the announcement that they are to become the first ever festival Micronation! A Micronation - or model country - is an independent state that is not yet recognised by world governments or major international organizations.

Returning will be Beyond the Stars/Ghettofunk Nightclub in a new larger venue, with underground DJs and Live Acts from Ghettofunk Records and affiliated organisations. More late night action comes from the new Sunrise Sounds Nightclub and Secret Cinema featuring comedy, performance and sounds to groove through the night to.

Also revamped, is the psychedelic Dance Temple springing to life with classic and emerging acts from the worlds of psy-trance, electronica and chill.

As well as all the above, you can expect the return of the foot-stompingly folksy, rabidly rootsy Spit n Sawdust Stage and Saloon Bar, the Serendipity Dance Floor and the Village Green area. The Serenity Field with Pacha Mamas, the Well-Being area and much much more. Sunrise promises to be more inspirational, more innovative, more family-friendly and funky than ever before.

New for 2013

First up, a new undercover 1500 capacity main stage venue which will be hosted each night by different bands, who will bring together their own music alongside those of others in their musical family, as well as upcoming, underground artists that they wish to bring exposure to Expect collaborations, unique acts and the best in underground sounds.

Secondly a new Sunrise Pub with an 800 capacity featuring the best in underground live-acts from Bristol, Brighton, Bath and Frome, plus a bit from inbetween... Collaborators on this venue include Pussyfoot and Tigerlily Productions. Also offering local and organic alcohol, a Sunday Roast, and hosting a themed banquet on Saturday Night in its intimate back room, featuring exclusive entertainment for those eating.

New to Sunrise is the Forest of Story, a 3 acre environment taking full advantage of nature's bounty with high-flying performance, storytelling, fire, kids activities, art trails and much much more.

Arriving at the festival, you'll pass through the Checkpoints of Babylon - manned by automatons and faceless workers – and emerge to receive a warm welcome at the Open Gate to the free lands of Sunrise, beyond the borders.

The Central Plaza plays host to amazing headliner music acts on the Main Stage and contains the lively Sunrise Pub and Souk markets, as well as an Assembly Room for open democracy forums. In the magical Northern Forests, children play among the trees amid high-flying performance, storytelling, fire acts and art trails, and in the lakeside Global Village you'll find the wellbeing spa and healing fields - here Tribe of Doris , celebrated intercultural drumming, dance and song pioneers,- infuse a glorious mix of global sounds into the Micronation, bringing stunning live musical performances and workshops in indigenous drumming, dance and song from Africa, Latin America and other parts of the world.

In The Shire - the hobbit-y land of crafts – you can learn about eco-building, drink cider, soak up folk music and enjoy traditional fairground and wholesome dancing. At its hub, the Green Talks Dome brings an innovative forum for social and environmental education, and will be variously hosted by pioneering UK organisations for sustainable living, including a programme curated by legendary 'Earth Pilgrim' Satish Kumar of Resurgence & Ecologist magazine. Finally, in the wild Southlands, you’ll find electrifying nightlife from a choice of the Psy-Dance Temple, the Ghettofunk Nightclub, the Sunrise Sounds Nightclub and Secret Cinema (featuring comedy, performance, late night grooves) and much more besides.

Kids area

Sunrise has a dedicated kids area (where adults will be allowed only as long as they behave themselves!) with plenty of new fun activities and avenues to explore plus circus and crafts workshops, parades, a maze, outdoor games and more. For the older kids there will be graffiti walls, breakdance, poetry slams, hip hop, circus shows and skills, bushcraft skills and lots more still to be confirmed.

Green ethos

The event is expected to be 100% ecologically powered, with a site-wide organic policy which also applies to alcohol. There are full camping facilities will be available including, showers, chemical & compost toilets.

Bus service

There is a free bus from the nearest train station, information regarding this will be distributed with the tickets.

More information will be here when available.
