If there was one band that stood out from the rest at TITP this year it had to be the Kaiser Chiefs.
No inflatable giant dinosaur this time, as had appeared at Glastonbury. Instead the band was joined by an inflatable red lobster, passed up from the crowd.
Lead singer Ricky Wilson gave an enormous Scottish audience a quick lesson in British law, claiming that Its a rule, probably a law in this country, that when a pretty girl sits on a mans shoulders at a festival she has to show her tits. To his and half the audiences delight, the women were more than happy to oblige.
Wilson leapt around stage, twirling his microphone and smashing it relentlessly on the ground. The pace of their set was unbelievable right from the start of Na Na Na Na Naa, to Take my temperature.
I predict a riot and Oh My God both went down a storm with Wilson leaping about enthusiastically, only stopping for a second for another sip of lager. Just after Everyday I love you less and less Wilson started a clapping contest between the left and right hand side of the audience. I can see audience participation is your thing!! he yelled out.
The Kaisers played nine tracks from the album Employment and then left as suddenly as they came on, leaving their mark on the Radio 1/NME stage. Fantastic stuff.
