Scotland’s biggest music festival T in the Park took place this year over the 9th and 10th of July, and was bathed in scorching sunshine throughout the entire weekend.

The line-up was one of the strongest the festival had ever seen with Foo Fighters, Green Day, James Brown and Travis all heading up the bill. 69,000 fans watched over 170 acts perform throughout the weekend.

As Geoff Ellis, T in the Park promoter confirmed, this year’s event had been a total success. “The whole weekend has gone extremely well. The new site layout has been successful and festival goers have had much more room to move around between all ten stages”."

Despite demand for tickets being overwhelming, selling out well within a week the ticket system worked flawlessly. “Our new ticketing system has been highly effective and should send out a message to anyone thinking of buying from unofficial sources for next year’s event” said Ellis.

The festival saw some fantastic performances from Athlete, New Order, Embrace and The Kaiser Chiefs. The legendary Pete Townsend made a surprise performance, opening the main stage on Sunday with Rachel Fuller.

The Scottish vibe was alive and well, The Bravery were joined on stage by bag pipers, and KT Tunstall, Travis, Cosmic Rough Riders, Biffy Clyro and El Presidente all flew the flag for their home country.

The atmosphere was a friendly, relaxed one. It was far too hot to rush around from stage to stage. The order of the day was chilling out on the sunny banks leading up from T in the Parks two outdoor stages. The intensity of the heat inside The King Tut’s Tent was virtually unbearable; I had to be impressed with fans that waited patiently for their favorite bands to come on when it was that hot!

The Foo Fighters closed the Saturday night and were said to have been overwhelmed with the reception they got from the crowd. The band was one of many American acts that stormed the festival this year. Green Day and The Killers both putting in fantastic performances.

At 6pm on the Sunday Chief Superintendent Matt Hamilton said that “All in all the weekend has been fairly quiet with a total of 49 arrests being made since the gates opened, which is slightly less than at this time last year. The crowd on the whole have enjoyed themselves and been well behaved.”

T in the Park 2005 was a great success!
