(X-Tent, Saturday)
If you were within a radius of three miles from the X-Tent on the 9th July 2005, then you'll probably have heard the reaction for The Magic Numbers. It's almost impossible to believe how quickly this band have risen to fame, but being proclaimed as "The best new band in ten years" by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys certainly helps gain new fans.
Romeo Stoddart and the band are in top form, and predictably, "Forever Lost" is a huge singalong. The audience reaction is so loud, they have to stop the gig for a couple of minutes so they could hear following number "Mornings Eleven".
I've really been trying to find any sort of fault in the set to make this as balanced as possible, but you simply can't. Next single "Love Me Like You" should go top five, but the sun-kissed harmonies are almost perfect for a festival setting.
On the last number, Romeo has us singing "Jooohh...woaahh" with them, and even once they've left the stage and the crowd are spilling out of the tent, they are still singing as loud as possible. Some people are mentioning them as possible headliners in time for the next Glastonbury, and I wouldn't count that out.
The Magic Numbers - soon to be more popular than oxygen.
