Vamos Festival returns for its 8th edition for a whole month from Friday 14th June to Sunday 14th July 2013 with events across the North East celebrating the culture and vibrancy of Latin and Lusophone (Portuguese speaking) cultures.
Events
Highlight include the return of the Tyne Carnival, a host of film screenings, the Outdoor Picnic, Education & Food, the Afro-Carnival Masquerade, the High Bridge Take Over, Cuban Fusion Night, talks, poetry, Salsa, Mardi Gras Zumba, Mexican Wrestling, and the ¡Vamos! Festival closing party at Crusoes.
Latin American acts including Los Chinches, Noname with Diamond Bass, Alx Alfaro & Julija Jacenaite, Morgan Szymanski, Yilis Del Carmen Suriel, Leo Blanco, Hannabiell & Midnight Blue, La Típica, Tropicalia, Pablo Neruda's Houses, Portuguese Paladares, Classico Latino, Rumba De Bodas + Masha & Luis, and Carnival acts.
The programme features the UK premieres of visual art exhibitions and films, Latin American artists commissions as part of the celebration of the Cultural Olympiad, performances by leading Latin DJs and musicians, a large scale Tyne Carnival procession with the general public in the centre of Newcastle, talks, language cafes and workshops.
The days also include live contemporary and traditional Latin music, vibrant visual art exhibitions, authentic Latin cuisine and outdoor picnics, enlightening talks and thought provoking discussions.

Ticket prices vary depending on the event, tickets are not yet on sale.
Accommodation
This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
