The Brighton Festival of World Sacred Music (BFWSM), is now in its sixth year, and aims to make a significant contribution towards greater understanding between people of different cultures and belief systems through a week of sacred music from around the globe.

This year's line-up includes Tekameli from southern France, 'Queen of Mbira' Stella Chiweshe from Zimbabwe, Sitar virtuoso Kartik Seshadri from India, Sekou Keita Quintet, Mamane Barka from Niger, Amazonian music from Brazil's Marlui Miranda, and some Sussex artists who will be performing or running workshops at the festival, these include Razia Aziz, Lou Beckerman, Rohan Kriwaczek, Martha Roe, Polina Shepherd, Saidi Kanda, and Suekali Stubbs.

High quality local, national and international artists are represented from a diverse and eclectic range of traditions including African, Buddhist, Celtic, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Native American, and Sikh.

This year's theme will be 'South'. We will be focusing on artists from Africa, India and South America.

Festival goers should also expect street performances; last year this included Tibetan Buddhist chanting; Gospel a cappella; Jewish klezmer; Indian ragas; African percussion; and Sufi song.

The core of the festival features a programme of evening and lunchtime concerts, workshops and community events that take place in some of the many beautiful sacred spaces around the city.

There's also an outreach programme of performances and workshops in schools, hospitals and prisons.

More information will be here when available.
