The family festival will once again be taking residence at its’ home of Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire from Friday 30th May to Sunday 1st June.
For one weekend Wychwood will celebrate ten years of family, folk and world music from across the globe, with over 100 bands across four stages.
Not only this but there will be a plethora of workshops for all ages, including literature for the kids, real ale for the adults, mouthwatering food, yoga, crafts, comedy, plus more.
All set in the idyllic, relaxing and natural beauty of the Prestbury Hills in the Gloucestershire countryside.
To kick off an exceptional 10th Birthday of magnificent musical memories, the sounds of soul legends The Real Thing will be leading the festivities on the Friday night. 10’cc’s co-founder Graham Gouldman will be bringing his fantastic Heart Full of Songs acoustic set to the festival. Meanwhile heritage favourites The Stranglers and Irish New Wave band The Boomtown Rats complete with Sir Bob Geldof will dazzle the audience with the last 40 years of hits whilst funk, disco and soul guru Craig Charles will be back by popular demand; completing an already impressive array to please all tastes.
Folk lovers will not be left disappointed as Merry Hell, a modern folk-rock band with an energetic punk edge, will electrify the audience while Polly and the Billets Doux, a harmony blend of country, blues, folk and gospel, will be there to bring the distinguished genre at the heart of Wychwood alive.
Music isn’t the only highlight; the Children’s Literature Festival once again features well-loved authors and illustrators thanks to recognised book retailer Waterstones. Returning this year is the Roald Dahl Museum and their superior animated storytellers bringing to life the world of the B.F.G., Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Twits.
Adults won’t be feeling left out as an extensive Comedy programme is scheduled and for late night revellers, the Headphone Disco will open its doors to the best of sing-along classics and dancing anthems each night. With an innovative and pioneering programme to delight those that lust over indie, folk, rock and world music, including some of the greatest industry legends and the newest emerging talent in the music scene, Wychwood is incomparable to most family festival.
In addition with an enviable extra-curricular timetable and an utterly undeniable friendly atmosphere in a stunning location, the celebration will be the biggest and best yet. Wychwood Festival is worthy addition to any families’ calendar.
