Seventies theme
This year sees Wychwood Festival taking festival-goers back to a time that was both glamorous and gritty the seventies, with Punk vs Disco. On one side there were the dive bar dwelling anti-establishment anger of Sex Pistols, on the other the decadent sounds of Donna Summer and the exclusivity of Studio 54. Wychwood is inviting revellers to release their inner-anarchist or dancing queen to create a sense of Saturday Night Fever on Cheltenham Racecourse.
Kids entertainment
Wychwood offers fantastic fun for kids, and hosts a literary festival with authors and illustrators, kids' favourite characters, a multitude of making things, playing with stuff, learning, education, workshops, dance, and much more, and all free with no need to sign up, just drop in and join in the fun.
Kids Literature Festival
The Lit Fest tent returns in 2015 and will once again feature kids authors and illustrators, including Christopher Edge (Twelve Minutes to Midnight), Philip Ardagh (Eddie Dickens), Matt Brown (Compton Valance), Anna Wilson (Top Of The Pups), Steve Anthony (The Queens Hat), and Tracey Corderoy (The Grouch), Paul Stickland (10 Terrible Dinosaurs), Steve Cole (Monsters and Alien Mummies), John Dougherty (Stinkbomb and Ketchup face), Tony De Saulles (Horrible Science), Ali Sparkes (Blue Peter award winner, new book Car Jacker), Jo Cotterill and Waterstones festival illustrator Gemma Hastilow..
Green Britain Chat
Keeping up it's dedication towards all things green, Wychwood will also be holding the ‘Green Britain Chat' this year with Ecotricity's founder Dale Vince debating the importance of sustainable green energy with organic food supplier Guy Watson of Riverford. Chaired by the BBC One Show and Observer journalist Lucy Siegle the topics up for discussion include the sustainability of Energy, Transport and Food, three very important topics that will undoubtedly make for an informative and inspiring debate.
Workshops
There are numerous workshop venues, and with over 100 events over the weekend both inside and out for adults, kids and families featuring dance, theatre, fitness, nature, musicianship, singing, puppetry, photography, circus skills arts and crafts and much more.
Some of the workshops have been announced for this year these include Bhangra, Bollywood and Indian fusion dance with Sohan Kailey of Aashiyana Arts and Belly Dance with Mirage and Syren. There will be ukulele workshops for all ages with Ukeholics - organisers of the UK Ukulele Festival.
There will also be musical theatre workshops with Cameo Kids and circus skills workshop with Circus Kaos and Solo Circus. Arts and crafts activities include willow weaving, papier mache tree, bugs and hats with Rachel Shilston, crochet and knitting with The Wooly Warriors, giant colouring in, painting, shaker making, collage with Emma's Crafty Kids and many more to be confirmed.
Entertaineers include Pizzas of Eight puppet show, Punch and Judy, giant bubble show with SamSam the Bubbleman, spoken word cabaret evening with Cheltenham Poetry Festival, a variety cabaret evening, Dragon's Tale show by Theatric Arts and a family magic show with Ace Of Diamonds Magic Company.
Plus out and about around the site there will be walkabout performers, clay modelling, under the canopy creations, a graffiti wall and face painting.
