as I said above, I'm certainly no artist, but I rather like this photo (not very hi-res) taken with my iphone using HDR Pro. I'm sure its a very very "poor mans" HDR, but I like the way it looks. It was my back garden a few minutes ago in the relative dusk.

If I had used something to steady the shot, it would have been a lot better, but the light is dying quickly and I reckon the app will do its best work in good light. Still not bad for a camera phone IMHO.

edited to say

actually, I dont think it looks that good on a bigger screen, but I think there is promise there for some better output from my iphone's shitty camera.

Hmmmnnnn ...yeah, good shot really under the circs with a phone etc. Just shows you that you can still create decent pics with whatever... I found mesell quite intrigued with it tbh...more than a fleeting glance.

Maybe not with the colour or the cloud formations etc, but more like the begging question of Just How f**king Big Is Your Garden??...and what odds are they that it contains no vegetables...

But, no--good shot--i like it.

By coincidence, a couple of hours ago---i posted the fgollowing on another forum...

<<Ah... sunday night--TV is shite, iPod on and downloaded some pics I took of the bairns today.

Y`know, me Dad--- he loved me,but never actually told me...not until I collared him over a pint when he was 78 and told him so... thats when he told me that he did love me, but "in those days" -- blokes "weren`t like that".

I fully accepted his reasoning.... he died a month or so later.....

God...do i tell me bairns I love em.... but i suppose i got a good bit of me Dad in me and dont throw enough flowers.

However, without wanting to come over all f**kin sickly and going into My child is going to be the next Prime Minister mode etc..... if there is one thing I would shout from the rooftops.... I do a good eye.

My jismateroa may be tainted with certain personality disorders.... but O LORDY MAMA, the swimmin fish that makes EYES has never let me down..... so forgive me this indulgence on a sunday night....... >>

Compostion rules straight out of the window.... but heck... I looked at this one for much longer than i should have! What is it? A ship? Wrecked?

I like the way the shapes are very geometrical.

Garage eh! You`ve got a f**king garage as well????

As long as the kids inherited their mothers learning, ambition, application and intelligence... they will do well... if theres more of me in em... they`ll be f**ked ;)

I agree. The pics i put on above were taken on my SLR..all singin an dancin. tbh--- when I look at the pics blown up---the quality is amazing, like the detail in the eyelashes, and of course I am able to adjust/alter any aspect I want to...and i enjoy that.

But.... and this is the bit that gives a dilema... the size of the pics as in 1mb minimum make them a devil to send/load up on Facebook etc and they take up a lot of PC space.

I`m gonna get a few of these enlarged to quite big sizes...am looking for best place to do this...anybody got any ideas?

Thanks for that...checked it out. But Mr Ty, you need to get back on there... I`ve ordered one of those 40x30 collages.... TEN QUID!plus £2post.

There was an offer on which finished last wed...but i havent been able to log on here so couldnt tell you.

However, after looking again--the offer is extended, so if you wanting another..have a look.

Will be interesting to see what the quality is like..that will be the key for me.

Me daughter said she got an A3 size done for 6quid in Tescos or summat.

So I was lokoing at getting into photography as a casual hobby and need advice on cameras. I as looking at the Fujifilm FinePix S1600 and it seemed quite good for the price (£100 on Amazon). Looks to be good for amateurs :)

Any advice would be great, thanks folks :)

It look ok and you cant complain for the brass. If you look through the previous pages of the thread.. I remember posting an answer to a similar question (along with a few others).

Basically-- your number one question to yourself should be...What do I want to be doing with a camera?

Personally-- I wouldn`t touch that camera cos its neither a real compact nor an DSLR.

Dont be getting drawn into fancy features and buttons mode.

I love these tiny compacts.. yer out on the lash, gigs, fests etc..slips in yer pocket..and the pictures are perfectly acceptable for what you are after.

I wouldn`t be fancying my expensive Nikon being in the same pozzy!

In technical and creative terms--you are quite restricted with the model above... but--ask yourself..would you have a clue what those restrictions were--and more importantly--would they make any difference to your photography? Probably not.

Good luck.. keep us informed.
