That's just it. I'm a complete novice when it comes to photography and I probably wouldn't know if I was being restrcited by that camera! I think, for me, that camera would be fine but I don't want to buy a camera thinking that it's good value and it turns out to be crap! Even after I read reviews and stuff I'm still hesitant to part with my cash.

I have a small digital camera for gigs and what not but I would like one that's better for going out and about and taking pics of the sites around town, on holiday, etc.

Cheers for the advice Den - had a look back a couple of pages. The camera that I'm interested in seems to be the way to go...

Has anyone got any experience or recommendations with tough/waterproof cameras? I'm after something for holidays, days out etc that will survive being bashed about or getting wet etc - not too bothered about underwater photos.

I was thinking of getting the Panasonic FT10 for ~£150, but Santa brought me some amazon vouchers, so I might spend a bit more and get the Panasonic FT10 or Sony TX10. I don't mind spending if it's going to last me for years.

Also, in the past I've always leaned towards buying cameras from 'camera makers' eg Nikon, rather than 'computer makers' eg Sony - is that old-fashioned thinking nowadays?

Try searching CNet for reviews of waterproof cameras. Seem to be in depth & they should know what they are talking about (tend to be biased towards certain brands when it comes to telly's though as does T3 & Stuff magazines).

I've just sold my Fuji S9600 and bought myself a Canon G10, I can finally take photos without carrying a massive camera bag :D

I need to buy new memory cards, my x\d cards are no use, so SD cards it is. Anyone know a brand of SD memory they recommend? I read a lot of bad reviews of the cheap 32gb ones saying they corrupt easily?

thank you, i bought an app for my ipad called "know your dslr" or something similar. what an amazing help. prior to that I had no understanding of aperture, shutter speed, lens selection, iso, or white balance. I read the app from back to front and now have a rudimentary understanding of all of the above. I really like the shallow depth of field stuff, and there are a couple of shots of the landscapes around here that I am itching for a nice day to go and try out.

I see the Stone Roses are greedily cashing in at every opportunity. w*nkers.

If the Roses want unrestricted rights to use other people's copyright work, then they should also be allowing the copyright holders the same unrestricted rights to use their copyrighted work.

If the Roses want to restrict how other people's copyrighted work can be used, then there should be a similar restriction on their own exploitation of that copyrighted work.

As I always say when I'm presented with a form like this to sign - which I will never sign - "if you want the rights to exploit my copyrighted photos, then I want the rights to exploit your copyrighted music".

I fucking hate copyright, but it's the way of the world and if it's going to exist its existence should be fair to all concerned.
